Signalling Power Supplies
The maximum benefit of condition monitoring is derived from the ability to correlate changes in the behaviour of different railway systems to identify and diagnose complex faults arising from interaction with each other. In this context, the remote monitoring of power supply quality and performance is a useful addition to any system monitoring key assets such as points, track circuits or level crossings. All CDSRail data acquisition hardware can accept inputs from standard 4-20mA sensors; making it easy to monitor power supply performance or load by adding current, voltage or even frequency measurement to any fixed infrastructure monitoring installation.
CDSRail also have a comprehensive range of solutions to interface directly to most popular insulation monitoring and earth leakage detection systems. The addition of a CDSRail data logger allows the insulation resistance and other key status outputs to be monitored remotely. With this data available through a centralised asset monitoring system, maintenance teams can react immediately to a drop in insulation resistance and intervene to prevent power supply failure. Additionally, the ability to view trends, correlating changes in the earth leakage to activity on the rail network or changes in weather can assist considerably in fault diagnosis.
